Anika Moa : Live and Direct on COAST tonight!

This Week On Coast

TONIGHT - 9.00 PM ON MAORI TELEVISION

Hot on the heels of the release of her second album Stolen Hill, COAST is proud to have as a special guest on our show the wonderful ANIKA MOA TONIGHT Thursday August 4 at 9.00 PM.

Anika is a singer / songwriter who needs little introduction. She burst onto the New Zealand music scene four years ago with the double-platinum album Thinking Room. Singles such as Youthful, Good In My Head, and Falling In Love Again became massive hits and led the charge in the renaissance of local music on commercial radio.

After much time spent touring and promoting her debut album, Anika chose to invest time back into herself: strolling New Zealand, tasting the air, floating on the water, meeting the people and enjoying this life. "I just lived," she says, "and then got back into songwriting."

Inspired by her travels, a fruitful creative period spawned the songs that have formed Anika's latest record Stolen Hill. Much time has passed, but Anika Moa is back.

"I'm very proud of the album, I've worked real hard for it," says Anika. "I've learnt to be happy with myself and to be strong with whatever I say in my lyrics and whatever I do musically. I'm Maori, I'm from New Zealand, and this is my sound, this is my New Zealand sound, this is how I depict New Zealand as being."

Anika and band will be performing tracks from her new album, which was released to stores this week.

Also on the show this week: Performances from DUCHESS and TIM GUY, and special guests from Burger King Tall Blacks LINDSAY TAIT and PAUL HENARE - plus a one-off exclusive waiata that you won't want to miss!
