Dunedin music has a new home on the internet

Dunedin music has a new home on the internet.

dunedinmusic.com was conceived in June 2003, with a view to providing comprehensive resources for the Dunedin music community and to promote and report on local music of all genres.

In July 2004, the management team expanded and began to design a structure and build processes that would ensure ongoing delivery of the values outlined below:

- To foster and be supportive of the Dunedin music community.

- To be enterprising and entrepreneurial and encourage those values

- To provide direction for Dunedin musical artists

- To create an inclusive environment for ALL Dunedin musicians

- To be leaders in the global music community from our New Zealand base

Two years later, in July 2005, the foundation site has been launched and will be progressively upgraded over several stages.

The initial launch includes articles and resources for musicians as well as providing information such as news, inter-linkable gig guide, reviews and interviews for those with an interest in Dunedin music.

Rob Milne, founding member comments:

“The dunedinmusic.com team recognizes the need for a “hub” for Dunedin music as the scene is as fragmented as it is buoyant, but with the support of Dunedins music community, dunedinmusic.com will strive to push Dunedin music onto the global stage. The worldwide interest shown in Dunedin and New Zealand musicians continues unabated and we are proud to be presenting this via the internet”

Future roll-outs planned include: customizable skins, wiki-style searchability, telco integration and music downloads.
