NHNZ Appoints New Manager of Development

Acclaimed television director and producer Craig Meade has been appointed new Manager of Development for Dunedin-based production company NHNZ.

American born-Meade brings a wealth of production experience to the role as well as a broad knowledge of the international television market. He has directed and produced for all of the Australian and New Zealand broadcasters, Ireland’s RTE network, Discovery Channels, National Geographic Channels and a consortium of channels in the People’s Republic of China.

Craig was a field producer and director for Discovery Channel’s foundation program Beyond 2000. Across the space of four series he filed more than 170 stories on new technologies and scientific breakthroughs.

For four years leading up to 2003 Craig was heavily involved in the development of the “reality” genre across Australasia and has directed a dozen series including Temptation Island and The Mole.

A producer and director with NHNZ since 2003, Meade was a director on the ground-breaking animal behaviour series Animal Face Off and is currently directing episodes of Buggin’ With Ruud, a 13-part series commissioned by Animal Planet.

NHNZ Managing Director Michael Stedman says he’s delighted with Meade’s appointment.

His experience in production has given him a good intuition for what works and he knows how the international marketplace operates. Best of all he’s passionate about television.”

Meade begins his new job in September. He takes over as NHNZ Development Manager at a time when the company has over 70 hours of production on the slate with new series being negotiated with American and Asian networks.
