Lion's AB's Test tickets auctioned for $510
Test tickets auctioned for $510, All Black jersey for
$3800 at Bob Deans night in Riccarton House
Two tickets for tomorrow night’s All Blacks - Lions test sold last night for just $510 at the Bob Deans centenary auction in Christchurch last night.
The tickets may have gone for much higher price if the weather forecast was better. Forecasters are predicting 4deg at the Jade Stadium kickoff with a wind chill factor of minus 3.
Guests at the auction had more respect for the All Black jersey than the Christchurch weather.
A 2005 All Black top sold for $3800. The ‘Taste of Nostalgia Evening’ raised more than $7000 for the Nurse Maude Association.
One of Bob Deans’ priceless All Black jerseys was on display at the auction held in historic Riccarton House. It is 100 years since the famous Bob Deans try-that-wasn't against Wales in Cardiff in 1905, yet the debate about the Bob Deans ‘try’ continues to rage. The disallowed try against Wales was the only loss for the 1905 "Original" All Blacks on their tour of Britain.
Deans died of appendicitis at the age of 24. His great-nephews, Crusaders coach Robbie Deans, was a guest speaker at the auction. Ends
