The Wairoa Maori Film Festival Awards Night was held on Saturday June 4 2005. This is the official press release summarising the results of the Festival Prize Ceremony:

The following four films will be recommended for special inclusion to the National Geographic All Roads Film Festival, to be held in Washington DC and Los Angeles, USA, in September 2005:
• Buy Culturalism, Director Mark Sweeney, Producer Mark Sweeney, Wellington High School
• Kerosene Creek, Short Film, Director Michael Bennett, Producer Catherine Fitzgerald
• Passion & Conflict, Short Documentary, Director Tony Burt
• The Little Things, Short Film, Director Reina Webster, Producer Catherine Fitzgerald

FESTIVAL PRIZE:


• PEAR TA MA ‘ON MAF / THE LAND HAS EYES, Feature, Dir.Vilsoni Hereniko, Rotuma, Fiji

The Festival Judges were Cliff Curtis, Merata Mita and Tania Cotter. Leo Koziol was jury mediator. Judges exempted themselves from the categories within which they were entrants. The Feature Prize was awarded by the Festival Judges as Audience Award judging process was not implemented due to circumstances beyond Festival control. No correspondence will be entered into.
