Top NZ Trainers Selected for NZ Breeders Stakes

Greyhound Racing New Zealand today announced the final field for the NZ Breeders Stakes to be held next
Friday 17 June 2005 at Hatrick Raceway in Wanganui. The top eight trainers will compete for the top prize
of $41,500 - an increase of $12,000 from last season.

The final field of dogs and trainers are: Ole Dark, J and D Fahey (Balcairn); Tannochbrae, O Marron (Masterton); Celestial, B and E Gough (Marton); Thrilling Paul, AC Roberts (Rakaia); Light Pockets, G Cleeve (Kaiapoi); Accord, J McInerney (Darfield); Disclose, J McInerney (Darfield) and Go Pearl Go, Mrs V Jackson (Masterton).

The two reserves for the field are: Dusty Nero, L Fornasiere (Levin) and Aqua Tank, J Goode (Rangiora).

Lance Bickford, Chief Executive, Greyhound Racing New Zealand said the NZ Breeders will see some of New Zealand’s leading greyhound trainers, who have whelped and raised their dogs in New Zealand, face-off in what is expected to be a very intense race.

“This is the first time we have held the NZ Breeders Stakes in Wanganui and we are expecting over 300 people to attend what will be an exciting and action-packed evening,” said Mr Bickford.

The NZ Breeders event was established by Greyhound Racing New Zealand in 1983 to recognise and reward the success of NZ bred dogs and encourage more trainers and owners to invest in the New Zealand breeding industry.

“This event is just the start of our strategy that will see greater incentives offered for NZ bred dogs in the future,” said Mr Bickford.

The NZ Breeders Stakes will be held from 5:30pm at Hatrick Raceway, Sarjeant Street, Wanganui on
Friday 17 June 2005.
