John Mitchell, former All Black Coach and Super 14 Coach will present to the New Zealand Swim Coaches and Teachers at their annual conference this Queens Birthday weekend, on the secrets of coaching and getting the best out of your squad in Hamilton.
John's attention to detail and working with elite athletes at the top will give swimming coaches key strategies for creating the best in an athlete. His skill in talent identification, growing the skills, and maintain performance under pressure are issues swim coaches will hear in order to enhance their coaching skills.
"Coaching is a process supported by an art" John Mitchell said.
The conference will be held in Hamilton at the Kingsgate Conference Centre Te Rapa, Hamilton from Friday 3rd June to Monday 6th June 2005.
As well as John Mitchell, a line up of Olympic Coaches and members of coaching teams from various sports, will come together to offer the best of the best in sports coaching.
Australian Olympic Swim Coach Leigh Nugent produces and manages some of the best swimmers in the world. His focus at this Conference is talent identification and training for specific events.
Brett Smith, exercise physiologist with the New Zealand rowing elite team since 1994, will discuss physiological conditioning.
Graeme Robson, Badminton Coach and Coach Support Manager for the New Zealand Academy of Sport will present Coaching in the 21st century.
Kirk Marks, head of Austswim Australia will address both coaches and teachers.
Internationally recognised infant and preschool aquatic experts from Australia and the United States will also be conducting theory and practical sessions at the national conference. Can babies go under water? Yes, just watch 'em!
President of the Swim Coaches and Teachers Association Horst Meihe said "This is by far the best line up we have had in 10 years of conferences. These coaches will discuss a wide variety of subjects, going into depth, beyond just one or 2 key speakers."
