One of the fashion events of the year, The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation’s ‘In the Pink’ fashion show, returns on Friday 15 July at the SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre.

The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation spokesperson Helen Mawn says this year’s event will tempt the taste buds and provide a fashion feast for the eyes – and all for a good cause.

Proceeds from ‘In the Pink’, which is being sponsored by SKYCITY Auckland, will help raise funds to support the Foundation’s ongoing community education and research programmes.

“Breast Cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths among New Zealand women,” says Ms Mawn.

“‘In the Pink’ is a great night out and a rare opportunity for members of the public to attend a top-class New Zealand fashion show.”

This year’s event features leading names in New Zealand and international fashion and design, including Adrienne Winkelmann, Andrea Moore, Annah Stretton, Doris De Pont, Helen Cherry, Helen Talbot, Jane Rhodes, Laurie Foon, Liz Mitchell, Saks, Triumph Lingerie, World and Zambesi.

“It’s wonderful to see the fashion world getting in behind the fight to beat breast cancer,” Ms Mawn says. “Many of our featured designers have supported us year after year.”

Ms Mawn says exciting new designers Andrea Moore, Laurie Foon and Doris De Pont will also add to the popularity and pizzazz of this year’s show.

‘In the Pink’ will be emceed by popular performer and personality Jackie Clarke, with entertainment including a special guest appearance by Debbie Harwood, from “When The Cat’s Away” fame, who will be performing songs from her new album Soothe Me.

The event also features glamorous door prizes, a raffle and an auction of 15 luxury items including prizes from Christian Dior, Giltrap Prestige, Treetops Lodge, a night’s accommodation at the new SKYCITY Grand Hotel and dinner at dine by Peter Gordon, an overseas Travel package and a Spa and Beauty package.

‘In the Pink’ begins with cocktails at 6.30pm followed by a delicious selection of canapés from award-winning SKYCITY chefs. This year guests will also be treated to a sumptuous main course and gourmet sweets from Donovan’s Chocolates.

Ms Mawn advises members of the public to book early as last year’s show sold out.

A competition will run in the NZ Herald, in the lead up to ‘In The Pink’, giving a lucky person the chance to win a wardrobe overhaul by Paula Ryan, two tickets to ‘In The Pink’ and lunch with Paula in dine by Peter Gordon.

Paula Ryan is a former model and founder of Fashion Quarterly and Simply You magazines. She also owns and runs a self-titled designer collection of simple, stylish, high quality fashion garments.

The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation aims to reduce the number of New Zealanders who die from breast cancer and improve outcomes and quality of life for those affected by breast cancer.
