QUEST FOR BEST
AUSTRALIAN HOLIDAY STORIES CONTINUES
-- Two weeks remain
for Kiwis to share their "Aussie Tall Tales" --
Budding Kiwi authors have been putting pen to paper, entering Tourism Australia's "Aussie Tall Tales" Competition. There are now just two weeks left for New Zealanders to submit their Australian holiday stories for the chance to win a dream holiday in Australia.
The story--telling challenge -- running in association with the New Zealand Listener -- has generated much interest since it started in March, but the winning tale could still be out there and Tourism Australia urges more people to enter before 31 May.
Tourism Australia is seeking stories (up to 200 words) that describe unique Australian holiday experiences and motivate other Kiwis to head across the Tasman.
As a destination with limitless holiday options, entries have so far reflected many memorable, uniquely Australian moments, from exploring Cooper Pedy's brilliant red caves, to travelling 6000km through Queensland's Outback.
Winners will be selected in June and will be judged on each author's ability to capture the colours, sounds and characteristics that epitomise Australia.
Five competition runners--up will each receive $500 worth of book vouchers, and a 12--month subscription to the New Zealand Listener, while one New Zealander will win the holiday of a lifetime -- a trip for two to Australia, anywhere of their choice, to the value of $8,000 including economy--class airfares on Qantas.
All New Zealanders aged 18--plus, who have travelled to Australia, are eligible to enter.
Entry forms and further details are available in the New Zealand Listener or from travel agents nationwide. Alternatively, entry forms and more information can be downloaded at www.australia.com.
