Lucire April Issue Takes NZ To Europe

Lucire’s April 2005 issue first to take New Zealand to eastern Europe

Hilary Timmins joins new correspondents Margaret Ambrose from theLounge.com.au, and Pamela Carpio and Joanna Black of Blink New York

Wellington and Auckland, April 5 (JY&A Media) The issue of Lucire that goes on sale in Auckland tomorrow, and other cities shortly afterward, will be the first to be joined by a European counterpart.

Lucire's much-vaunted Romanian edition will be fundamentally based on this New Zealand issue. Going on sale in a few weeks, Lucire Romania will launch initially in Bucharest and other major centres. It is expected that having Colombian model Karen Carreño, best known for her Guess? Jeans campaigns, will open doors for the New Zealand magazine there.

Miss Carreño was photographed by Yann Dandois, who shot Cinthia Moura of ID Models last month. Jessica Tarazi did her make-up, while Benoît Poirier d'Ambreville, a freelance artist for L'Oréal Professionnel USA, returned to work his magic on hair. Casey Kettleson returned to style.

Despite the need to accommodate European readers, the New Zealand "master edition" contains numerous articles of interest, first and foremost, to Kiwis.

Lucire correspondents covering various events are already known to many New Zealanders.
Hilary Timmins—who's been in the national limelight since the 1980s and is the face of Lotto—contributes her first piece to the magazine in 'The Scene' section, covering a Variety event.

Ricardo Simich continues writing for Lucire in the same section, while doing double-duty with the Sunday Star–Times' 'About Town' supplement.

Antony Nobilo photographs another shoot for the magazine, this time travelling back to his native New Zealand from his Sydney base.

Deborah Sweeney, the Wellington designer who has been quietly selling in London and New York, is interviewed. Paua jewellery designer Denis Kenward is also profiled.

International personalities make up the beauty section. Editor-in-chief Nicola Brockie interviews Jemma Kidd, sister of supermodel Jodie, on her entrepreneurship and make-up academy in London.

Robert Bolaños, the leading brow expert to Hollywood's top actresses, reveals some of his secrets.

In keeping with Lucire's environmental aims—it is the United Nations Environment Programme's first fashion partner—Jack Yan interviews Summer Rayne Oakes, a well known American model who supports ethical and environmentally friendly fashion, coinciding with Earth Day this month.

Lucire team members including Elyse Glickman and Courtney Kretchman go behind the scenes at the Oscars. At New York Fashion Week, features' editor Phillip D. Johnson, photographer Ian Smile and others caught everyone from Carson Kressley to First Lady Laura Bush.

Margaret Ambrose, known to Australians as an editor at the highly successful theLounge.com.au, shares her experiences with shopping in Paris.

Meanwhile, new correspondents Pamela Carpio and Joanna Black look at what's hot in New York as part of a regular feature.

Long-time Lucire correspondent Debi Hall, now lifestyle editor, contributes her first piece on yoga.

Photographers Tim Dalton, Jackson Stakeman and Douglas Rimington provide the remaining shoots in the April issue. 'Trends' was once again edited by associate art director Fiona Barnett.

'This is our most international issue yet,' says Miss Brockie. 'We're exporting New Zealand culture to eastern Europe, while continuing the global flavour of Lucire.'

A television campaign is part of the magazine's launch in Romania. The local press there has already taken an interest in the magazine, with stories in Business Romania and other titles.
