NZ Music Awards Exported To Australia
New Zealand’s big night out at the 2004 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards is to screen early in the New Year in Australia on Channel V, Foxtel’s music station.
It’s a first for the annual event. In its 39 year history, the New Zealand Music Awards has never before been broadcast on TV internationally.
Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards spokesman Adam Holt says it’s simply another sign of the current strength of Kiwi music.
“The show is a great programme featuring outstanding performances from, amongst others, Scribe, Brooke Fraser, Dimmer, Misfits of Science, Elemeno P and Adeaze. With many of these acts making strong inroads into Australia, the timing of the screening could not be better.
“Its great that the Tuis have now reached a level of excellence where they are promoting New Zealand music both locally and internationally and supporting our artists like never before,” Mr Holt says.
The Recording Industry Association of New Zealand’s 2004 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards first played on CanWest’s C4 in a delayed broadcast the day after the Tuis were handed out in Auckland.
Foxtel’s digital Channel V is to broadcast the show between 7.00pm and 8.30pm on January 2, 2005.
