New Zealand Record Attempt – Static Apnea

Sunday 12 December – 7:15am West Wave Aquatic Centre

New Zealand freediver, Marcus Thompson will attempt to regain the New Zealand record for holding breath underwater (static apnea)

”During this record attempt I’ll be aiming for 6 minutes 30 seconds, hopefully closer to 7 minutes, says Marcus.

Marcus held the New Zealand record at 5 minutes 11 seconds.
This was broken and currently stands at 6 minutes 10 seconds.
“As a freediver, holding your breath is one of the most obvious disciplines, it certainly adds a whole new meaning to holding your breath ‘till your blue in the face,” he smiles.
Marcus recently represented New Zealand at the Freediving World Championships in Canada, finishing in the Top 10 for this discipline.

This New Zealand record attempt will be held at West Wave Aquatic Centre, 20 Alderman Drive, Henderson.
