November 2004 - NZ Music In Australia
In the second Big Day Out announcement, more NZ acts have been added to the Australian dates. The D4, Scribe & P Money, and Deceptikonz will join Concord Dawn on next year's traveling circus.
Speaking of BDO, the Beastie Boys are playing their own side shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Supporting them is Scribe,
personally picked by the Beasties to do the shows. Scribe's new single 'Dreaming' is getting a lot of radio and video
airplay. The clip is screening on SBA, Video Hits Uncut, and probably a couple more channels by the time you read this.
'Dreaming' is also on a steady climb in radio land, rising up the national airplay charts from 68th to 58th, and then
51st in the last few weeks. Following the pattern established by 'Stand Up', 'Dreaming' is picking up plenty of night
plays, currently sitting 2nd on that chart. 'Stand Up' is still sticking around too, sitting at 73 on the national
airplay chart after some 14 weeks.
Evermore's new single 'For One Day' was the 3rd most added on the alternative radio chart in the week of its release
This follows on from the success of
'It's Too Late', which reached number 16 on the singles chart this month. 'It's Too Late' is still performing extremely
well at radio charting in the mid-20s overall this month, and topping the contemporary rock chart for consecutive weeks,
and even managing to keep Australia's most played song (from good old Aussie boys Powderfinger) at bay on that format's
chart. Evermore will go on tour in support of The Tea Party on their upcoming November/December Australian tour.
The clip for Dei Hamo's 'We Gon' Ride' is screening on SBA, Rage, Channel V, and Channel 9 So Fresh. The single is
released at retail on Nov 22nd. Dei Hamo supports D12 on their three Australian dates in December.
The Finn Brothers tour Australia from November 20th to December 3rd, the ten shows culminating in three consecutive
sold out nights at the Sydney State Theatre. 'Won't Give In' has worked well at radio, and is now slowly dropping down
the charts. Their next single 'Anything Can Happen' has just hit Australian radio programmers' desks.
Mareko's 'Stop Drop 'N' Roll' is being strongly supported at radio, following on from interest in the video. The song
has climbed to number 3 on the alternative radio chart after three weeks on air.
Steriogram have released their new single Road Trip to retail.
NZ independent music magazine A LOW HUM is soon to be available at limited locations in Brisbane, Melbourne, and

This year's tenth anniversary Homebake festival has sold out, ensuring plenty of punters will see Scribe, The D4, and
Die! Die! Die! amongst the local acts.
Ahead of Homebake The D4 play two shows in Melbourne.
The Falls Festival takes place on December 31st and January 1st in Lorne, Victoria, and Marion Bay, Tasmania. betchadupa
are on the bill alongside internationals like De La Soul, Billy Bragg, The Black Keys, and a whole bunch of Aussies.
In other touring news, Salmonella Dub have two shows coming up in Sydney and another in Melbourne at the end of
November; betchadupa hit the road supporting The Killers on their five show Australian tour mid-December; Goldenhorse
play their first ever Australian shows this week, in Sydney and Melbourne; and Goodshirt also have some Australian shows
coming up, playing Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle and Sydney mid November.
