New Zealand’s Cuisine Crowned at Cannes At the inaugural Gourmet Voice Awards 2004

The world’s finest food magazines were revealed at the inaugural Gourmet Voice Awards at the Media World Festival in Cannes, France today.

New Zealand’s Cuisine took out the Silver Award in the Food Magazines (Magazines sur la Cuisine) category for Issue 106 (September), which was dedicated to the food of the Middle East.

Cuisine competed against some of the world’s leading food publications, including Cucina in Italy, Delicious in the UK and Olive, which is a new magazine from the US.

Simon Wilson, editor of Cuisine comments: “To take out a top award like this when competing with some of the world’s most respected food magazines, endorses the world class quality of Cuisine.”

“This award will bring worldwide attention and industry recognition, further showcasing our country’s inventiveness and resourcefulness when it comes to cuisine,”

The judging panel comprised twenty renowned personalities from the gourmet communication profession including food journalists, editors, photographers, columnists, authors and broadcasters.

The intense judging process took into account creativity of content, originality of approach and efficiency of presentation.

The gold was awarded to Gastronomica, an academic food journal published in the US.

The Gourmet Voice Awards, which are held in conjunction with the Gourmet Media World Festival, aim to reward and recognise talented professionals involved in good food and drink communication across all media.
