Auckland Philharmonia musicians play for FREE!

During November, leading musicians from the Auckland Philharmonia perform a diverse mix of classical and contemporary chamber music at the Auckland Central Library and the Franklin Arts and Cultural Centre – and the concerts are free! This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy orchestral music without dipping into your pocket, and is a refreshing way to spend your lunchtime.

"Ensemble Philharmonia" concerts run for an hour, and each concert features “Something Old, Something New, Something New Zealand”.

CONCERT 1: WOODWIND TRIO

Saturday 13 November – 1pm, Auckland Central Library (Whare Wananga, 2nd flr)

Saturday 27 November – 1pm, Franklin Arts and Cultural Centre (cnr Wesley & Edinburgh Sts, Pukekohe)

Musicians: Bridget Miles on clarinet, Madeline Sakofsky on oboe, and Jane Kircher on bassoon

Programme: Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro Overture; Ibert: Cinq pieces en trio; Mozart: Divertimento; Milhaud: Suite d’apres Corette; Francaix: Divertissement

CONCERT 2: WINDS AND STRINGS

Saturday 20 & Sunday 28 November – 1pm, Auckland Central Library (Whare Wananga, 2nd flr)

Musicians: Martin Lee on oboe, Catherine Bowie on flute, Irena Sedova on violin, Christine Bowie on viola, and You Lee on cello

Programme: Mozart: Oboe Quartet; Devienne: Duo for Flute and Viola; Rimmer: Oboe Quartet, A Fragile Earth (World premiere performance, commissioned by Tom Morris); Mozart: Flute Quartet

Join these top Auckland musicians for a special hour of free entertainment.

Ensemble Philharmonia is supported by the Lion Foundation and Franklin District Council. The Auckland Philharmonia receives major funding from Creative New Zealand and a major grant from Auckland City.
