NZ Runway Makes Its Debut
NZ Runway, October 22nd - 25th, 135 Halsey St, Viaduct Harbour, Auckland
With exactly one week to go and the final schedule locked in, excitement and anticipation is running high amongst the producers of this unique event.
NZ Runway is the first event of its kind here and will indulge the New Zealand public with the very best fashion, art, spa treatments, design, music, food and wine this country has to offer.
Says event producer, Josh Gilbertson; "New Zealand Runway 2004 will be one of the largest, most celebrated and aspirational events in the New Zealand event landscape!"
EXHIBITIONS & FEATURES
The Innovation Room
Presented by Media Design School, The Innovation Room will house an exhibition curated by Oliver Kraft: "From N - Z: Design Against Mainstream". This focuses on New Zealand's avant-garde furniture design movement and features groundbreaking work, including three world premiers - the first New Zealand designed and built espresso machine by Stéphan Rondel; a new design by David Trubridge based on his famous Bodyraft (now produced by Cappellini in Italy) and a new chair by Simon James, his first outdoor design for serial production.
Peugeot Designer Runway
Features Air New Zealand Fashion Week's "Best Of..." show several times daily, as well as other local and international designer collections, including
Sabine- Mandy Barker models in this dynamic show from one of New Zealand's leading labels, sponsored by Schick Intuition; Saks, a catwalk show featuring the new season's 2004/2005 Hugo Boss women's range among others including Escada and Versace and more; plus shows from Taylor, Exposed (emerging designers), Country Road, Moontide, GB Ela and Servilles.
Diet Coke Art Arena
Performance-based fashion shows from leading designers, live New Zealand music and DJs including Anika Moa, Georgia, Miriam, K'Lee and Disruptiv, which launches its inaugural fashion collection in the Arena. It will also showcase cultural performances, including Tempo Works from the Auckland Dance Festival.
Entry to the Arena is through the Diet Coke cocktail lab where complimentary cocktails will be available.
HP+ Urban Showroom The latest in lifestyle including home design, interiors and architecture, travel inspirations, award-winning furnishings and other luxury items from Design Denmark, Hewlett Packard, Sofia and Glasshouse.
Feltex Fashion Walk The latest ranges in men's and women's fashion, including and accessories from New Zealand designers and international brands - available to purchase.
Schick Intuition Spa Beauty and well-being products and services and a range of complimentary beauty treatments.
Fare Way Sample the best in New Zealand food and wine and learn how to make delicious dishes. Great Taste New Zealand brings innovative New Zealand Foods to Runway - from Kanaki herbs to Bennets of Mangawhai chocolates.
Club Lounge The Warner Air Club Lounge introduces a themed arrivals area featuring three of New Zealand's top chefs presenting international cuisine and local features: Mark Reihana (returning from international food travels), Mark Zatman (an international food designer) and Sergio Maglione (Toto's).
Highlights from the 2004 48 Hour Film Festival
See some of the best short films produced for this year's festival, playing in the retro-themed lounge at the Runway Theatre all weekend.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Servilles Anniversary Celebration - 8pm, Friday October 22nd
Servilles celebrates its 20th Anniversary at the opening night of NZ Runway Themed "Past, Present and Future", it is a celebration of creativity. Limited tickets available.
NZ Runway Designer Charity Auction - 3pm, Monday October 25th
Guests will bid for indulgent and exciting products ranging from Estee Lauder luxury packs to designer furniture, art and travel packages.
Proceeds will go to the charity Look Good, Feel Better.
DINZ (Design Institute of New Zealand) Exhibitor's Award - announced on Monday October 25th at the conclusion of the event
DINZ will award the most avant guard exhibition site on display at New Zealand Runway.
