Buckle Up For The Race Of Your Life!
Think you’re pretty fast? Take racing lines on every corner? If you think you’re the next Schumacher then put your money where your mouth is. The Red Bull Trolley Grand Prix is happening again in the Auckland Domain. We’re looking for willing participants to fly down a hill using only a trolley, some help from gravity and a healthy does of courage. But you’ll have to let your imagination run wild when you start designing because points are awarded for creativity as well as speed. Are you up for it?
After huge success in 2003, the Red Bull Trolley Grand Prix is being staged again. Forget Indianapolis, Suzuka and Le Man’s, the biggest racing event will take place on Sunday 13th February 2005, when the Domain comes alive with 80 teams racing their home-made trolleys!
If you think you’ve got what it takes to be the next Trolley Champ then apply at www.redbulltrolleygrandprix.co.nz or call 0800RACEME for a Driver Application Kit – applications close November 26, 2004.
There’s only room for 80 teams on the start grid, so you’ll need to show your commitment, imagination and flair to stand out, so get cracking.
Don’t think for a second that this is going to be easy just because it’s a trolley race. The driver will have to navigate a 700m downhill series of twisting turns in a one on one race against the clock!
Points will be awarded on three evenly weighted criteria; CREATIVITY (originality, innovation and design); PERFORMANCE (the actual performance of the team and trolley before and during the race - with spins, crashes and costumes all taken into consideration) and FINISH TIME (lap time). First place will take home $10,000!
