Greetings from artscalendar.co.nz
In a French Caf She is famous for a song about her family at the beach, often heard on radio, called not surprisingly At the Beach, recalling simpler days in NZ and she's toured the world and written songs about her advenures(OE). Originally from the Waikato this Kiwi farm girl, Linn Lorkin, has travelled well.
Just returning from a UK tour with the Jews Brothers Band, Linn Lorkin is bringing a Continental caf style performance. Now she arrives with her accordeoniste and partner in the Jews Brothers Hershal and making up the trio, double bassist Peter Scott also of the Jews Brothers and formerly with English pop band Madness.
In A French Caf has a repertoire ranging from charming Parisian waltzes to swinging 50's tunes like C'est si bon and then from the 18th Century hit Plaisir d'amour to pop standards like L'amour est bleu (Love is blue) with the occasional foray into Italian, Spanish, German, Yiddish and English. Linn Lorkin says "In a French Caf will transport listeners to a little caf on the banks of the Seine, a piazza on a warm Roman night, or a Berlin cabaret".
In A French Caf have performed in Paris, London, Copenhagen, Naples, Rome, New York, The Isle of Jersey, Brittany, Sydney, Miami Beach and all over NZ, now you can enjoy some travel without leaving town. Click here for full details of their New Zealand tour during October. For all enquiries for venue booking information please contact Steve at aotnz@xtra.co.nz.
