PR Gallery and Espresso Bar, an exciting new art gallery situated at 361 K’Road, offers the best in emerging New Zealand
art. The tempting aroma of Atomic coffee enticing you from the street – this makes it the place to view great art while
enjoying great coffee.
The PR Gallery and Espresso, opened by 23yr old Peter Ruka, is a new breed of gallery. One that Peter hopes will
encourage emerging artist to exhibit their work without feeling intimidated. “Most artist who are just starting out are
shy about their work and are very vulnerable to negative comments, I want the atmosphere of PR to ease this fear. While
allowing viewers to make a connection with the pieces and to become aware that art and the expression of art is not just
confined to the well-known artist. This is also a great opportunity to buy fantastic New Zealand art at an affordable
price”
Peter initially started PR Agency, which was formed to help emerging artists establish themselves as an artist. “I
realised there was a demand after helping my cousin, Tanya Ruka with the lead up to and then eventually exhibiting her
works. We kept it low key, intimate and inviting which worked really well.”
This is the same atmosphere Peter has created at PR Gallery & Espresso – warm, comfortable and completely unintimidating. PR is open to any artist – regardless of training. “Artists
who are yet to be discovered are ones who exude pure artistic quality and produce pieces that are truly remarkable” says
Peter, “I want to offer these artists a way of getting their art seen.”
“Incorporating the Espresso Bar allows me to charge a lower commission” Peter explains. The galley takes only 15%
commission on all work sold during their exhibition. “Now it’s all about letting people know we’re here. So pop in,
check out some amazing affordable art and have a chat and coffee!”

PR Gallery and Espresso Bar are open 7 days, 7.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am – 5.00pm Saturday and Sunday.
