Street Jib Series Finishes In Style
The crowds were out in force for the final of the Cadbury Moro Street Jib Series in Queenstown last night. Over 700 people crowded into Camp Street to watch as an international field of skiers and boarders took on the mighty Cardrona battleship rail mounted on a classic Holden car.
Westbeach Team Pro rider, Jeff Pepperdine from Canada blew the crowd away with his massive air and solid tricks to fly in to first place in the snowboarding. He was closely followed by local Queenstown rider Nick Hyne with Jesse Krygsman from the USA in third.
In the skiing, Yuta Ueno from Japan, fresh from his victory in the V-Ski Pipe Challenge at Cardrona, impressed the judges and the crowd by throwing down some tricky slides and pulling them off beautifully. The Wanaka boys Jossi Wells (14) and Jake McCleary in second and third respectively remained consistent with their high placings and equally high level of riding.
“What a great way to finish off the series,” said event organiser, Gini Mulholland from Cardrona. “There was an amazing standard of riding with heaps of people watching and having a good time. The series has been a huge success. As well as providing entertainment for local communities and giving local riders a chance to compete, it also attracted a good number of overseas competitors who added their own particular style to the event.”
