“Dunedin supports Festival by buying tickets”
Just 14 days after the launch of the Otago Festival of the Arts brochure, Otago people have come out in force with their
support of the Festival. Tickets sales to date are in excess of 1000, with all events across the board popular with
Festival-goers.
This early indication of interest and action has Nicholas McBryde, Festival Director, confident the Festival will be a
success.
“I am delighted that the programme is finding favour with Otago people. I know we have the mix right of music, theatre,
dance and art – a showcase of New Zealand talent lined-up with the best the international circuit as to offer,” says
McBryde.
Paul Dallimore, Otago Festival Trust Chairman, also believes the ticket prices have encouraged early action. “With
average prices lowered by $5.00 compared with last Festival, the events are accessible. With international acts such as
Amy X Neuburg’s average ticket price at $22.50, I know that we are bringing the best, at a reasonable price, to
Dunedin.”
The early ticket buying trend bodes well for the lead up to the Festival but McBryde warns that with many events coming
for just one night, people will have to continue to plan and book early for seats.
