Greetings!
Snow, snow and more snow! When does pretty snow become scary snow? When you are trying to get back to Christchurch from
Wanaka and twice you have to turn back from various routes thanks to a sudden Central Otago wintry blast! Yes, our
intrepid Network travellers, well that’s our Webmaster Danny and I, were on the roads last Friday! My romantic notion of
frolicking in fluffy white stuff (well they do in the movies!) was quickly dashed when the fluffy white stuff quickly
turned into thick icy stuff that threatened to leave us stranded!
Helpful hint for overseas travellers to New Zealand this winter:
If you are hiring a rental vehicle and have never used snow chains before, ask your rental company to guide you through
correctly fitting the chains to the vehicle BEFORE you head out into our winter wonderland.
Our travel writer has been busy writing up a storm of his own trying to satisfy the large influx of visitors who check

better with experience! Thankfully the boss (aka Danny de Hek) is obviously happy, so much so, that in true ‘Kiwi
Tourism’ style Danny popped ‘the big question’ to me last week while we were standing on the Kawarau Bridge!
As the Kawarau Bridge was the first full-time bungy jump site in the world and is the place where adventure tourism
began in New Zealand, it seemed the perfect spot for him to propose! Of course I said “YES”!
