Boost Mobile NZ Schools Tour

Media Release
9th June 2004

Boost Mobile NZ Schools Tour

Boost Mobile is proud to announce their support of this year’s NZ Schools Tour. The tour features premier pop-punk group Goodnight Nurse who are already making their mark on the NZ music landscape.

In its third year, the nationwide tour visits 95 secondary schools from Whangarei to Invercargill over a period of 19 weeks. The band performs a lunchtime concert at each school followed by a two hour music clinic. The clinics give students an opportunity to meet the band, learn about the NZ music industry and live performance.

“Boost Mobile is fully committed to supporting NZ music and fostering new emerging talent,” says Tania Bui, Marketing Manager Boost Mobile. “We want to support up and coming bands like Goodnight Nurse as well as encourage NZ Secondary Students to actively pursue their dreams and aspirations. Boost Mobile’s support of this tour is part of our ongoing strategy of hooking up as many young people as possible and bringing the community closer together,” says Bui.

Since their inception in 2002, Goodnight Nurse have gone from strength to strength with award-winning Welsh producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Lost Prophets) selecting their single ‘Loner’ to record while he was in NZ last year.

Previous tours have included bands such as Steriogram who are now in the USA recording and touring having signed the largest contract of any NZ band to date with record giant Capitol Records.

The Boost Mobile NZ Schools tour provides opportunities for young New Zealanders to follow in the footsteps of success stories like Steriogram offering them guidance and encouragement to strive for their hopes and dreams.
