The Package
This is to let you now about the up coming Word Festival, 13th-17th July. The Word Festival 2004 is a celebration of communication from spoken word, to visual art, korero to hip-hop.
A more detailed programme will be released closer to the time.
PROGRAMME: fireside poetry reading, fireside korero/storytelling, strictly conscious, word market, publishing and performance workshops, open mic opportunities, Wordform: ongoing visual art exhibition, final night jam.
Producers Craig Ireson and Ciara Mulholland say “last July’s Word Festival was so successful and inspiring that we couldn’t help but stamp it permanently on the abundant Wellington events calendar.
The Word Festival is unique because it’s open. There’s no fourth wall between audience and performer. For example the fireside korero night is set in a circle and operates in a pass-the-tokotoko style. It’s an opportunity for novice performers to work and perform alongside the more experienced.
The Word Collective is like the love train; we want to pick up as many brothers and sisters as we can along the way!”
