China’s biggest educational publisher buys NHNZ images
NHNZ Images gained a strong foothold in the growing Chinese education market this month.
The Chinese Higher Education Press, the largest and most prominent publisher of educational books in China, has bought two hours and thirteen minutes of NHNZ stock footage.
The footage, all of it from natural history television programmes, will be used as a teaching resource for English language students.
NHNZ Images manager, Rosi Crane says the publishers wanted footage that would visually stimulate the students while also providing a translation challenge.
“Because natural history offers such a wide variety of subjects and stories it is the perfect teaching tool for students of English.
“The Higher Education Press has requested footage that contains both narration and dialogue. The narration is more structured and formal that the dialogue, which is often delivered in a colloquial style – and probably a little tough for second language learners to grasp.”
As well as providing the footage, NHNZ has also supplied written translations of the programme scripts from which the footage has been taken.
The deal between NHNZ and the Chinese Higher Education Press signifies a further strengthening of the relationship between NHNZ and Chinese companies.
In the past year NHNZ has made two
co-productions with Chinese film companies and is working on
several reversions of Chinese-made documentaries for the
European and American
markets.
