What kids really like revealed!
What Kiwi kids really like in entertainment will be revealed when the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards are announced in Upper Hutt, Wellington next Saturday (May 22).
More than 200 youngsters aged between 7 and thirteen have won exclusive tickets - sans parents - to the awards, which are being celebrated with a SpongeBob SquarePants hosted pool party at H2O Xtream.
The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards will witness the announcement of New Zealand kids' six favourites - TV show, celebrity, movie, book, music performer or band and their favourite New Zealand wannabe. The wannabe award reflects the children's choice of the person they most want to be like.
The May 22 Kids' Choice Awards Preview Party will give kids the chance to preview the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, filmed in L.A. in April and to be screened by SKY TV on the Nickelodeon channel on June 6.
The 17th annual awards were hosted in Los Angeles by Cameron Diaz and Mike Myers and one lucky Kiwi kid was in the audience after winning a nationwide Nickelodeon competition.
Other fun activities at the pool party include the Bikini Bottom Olympics, the Xbox SpongeBob competition and a mary-kateandashley brand trivia competition.
Every kid who attends takes home a goodie bag and one lucky guest will win a trip to Nick Central at Dreamworld in Queensland, Australia. The event is to be hosted by Dennis Katsanos, popular presenter of Kidz Kingz and local radio presenters Grant Walker and Shelley Venning.
"Kiwi kids have been voting for their favourites by post, email and text, and this is their chance to find out if their selections match those of other young people around the world," says Lucy Young, Vice President, marketing and communications for Nickelodeon Asia Pacific.
"It's going to be a fun filled evening in Upper Hutt. Kids come first at Nickelodeon, so this is a time for them to let their hair down, splash around and celebrate being a kid."
It's the third year of the awards in New Zealand and SKY TV's Manager of Entertainment Programming John Cowsill says the network is thrilled to be able to bring the preview to the Wellington region for the first time.
"The aquatic centre is the perfect
setting - ear plugs will be in order for the evening for
supervisors, I'm sure."
Manager of H20 Xtream Alison Law
says "We're delighted Nickelodeon chose H20 Xtream as the
venue for the Kids Choice Awards Preview Party. H20 Xtream
is one of the leading aquatic facilities in New
Zealand."
Kids can watch the televised awards from the
"comfort" of the pool or in seated areas.
