Real Groove announces new Editor
Real Groove Magazine has appointed Brock Oliver as new Editor, taking over from John Russell who recently resigned from
the position. Wanting a complete change of lifestyle and pace, Russell and his wife are moving to live the good life up
north. “After six years of monthly deadlines at Real Groove I’m keen to take a breather. I’m trading in the fast pace of
deadlines and city life for the tranquility of the countryside,” says Russell.
Russell’s last issue of Real Groove will be the April edition. “We are really sad to lose John as he has contributed so
much to the publication during his time here,” says Steve Richards, General Manager of Real Groove.
Oliver brings with him a wealth of industry experience having previously edited Pulp magazine and worked with past music
titles, Selector and Lava.
“We are looking forward to the new perspective that Brock will bring to the magazine,” says Richards. “The appointment
of Brock will ensure a continued focus on quality and editorial excellence, and maintain our commitment to both local
and international musicians and artists.”
Latest AC Nielsen results have readership figures at 51,000 year on year highlighting Real Groove as the No.1 monthly
music, film and entertainment magazine in New Zealand. Oliver takes over from the May 2004 issue. The April issue of
Real Groove hits news stands on Monday 5 April.
