Meaty Drama Whets a Varied Palate
Master of Theatre Arts (Directing) Students
Present….
"CHOICE CUTS'' a showcase of bite-sized pieces of theatre. Meaty, stimulating, entertaining, provoking. "CHOICE CUTS" reflects a creative blend of diverse styles, and content from the second year Master in Theatre Arts Directing students.
"CHOICE CUTS'' is the first production on the directors' calendar this year, and involves working with final-year acting students at Toi Whakaari, and professional actors.
The wide range of plays on show means that the clichéd 'something for everyone' epithet will be bandied around with gay abandon.
Not only are the plays varied but the approach for each snippet is markedly different - from an intellectual exploration of cultural identity, to wildly physical theatre; from in your face film to deadly Jacobean theatrics; from rugby head Kiwis to sexually adventurous Americans.
On the menu: Sexual Perversity in Chicago (Mamet), Wibbly-Wobbly (short film), Duchess of Malfi (Webster), Think of a Garden (Kneubuhl), Foreskin's Lament (McGee), The Frogs (Aristophanes) and Midsummer's Night Dream (Shakespeare).
"CHOICE CUTS'' opens on Thursday, 1st April through to 4th April and will whet appetites and compel strong emotion.
