THE LORD OF THE RINGS MOTION PICTURE TRILOGY - THE EXHIBITION OPENS IN SINGAPORE
Te Papa's hugely successful The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy - The Exhibition opens at the Singapore Science Centre on Friday 12 March. The day before, (Singapore time) a press preview will be attended by hundred's of media from all over Asia.
The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy - The Exhibition was developed by Te Papa in conjunction with New Line Cinema over a two-year period. It broke all previous attendance records for a museum exhibition in New Zealand with over 220,000 visitors at Te Papa. During its season at the Science Museum in London it attracted 258,000 visitors, pre-selling more than the previous Bond and Titanic exhibitions put together.
The exhibition in Singapore runs from 12 March until 4 June, and then travels to the Science Park in Boston and the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.
Te Papa's Chief Executive, Dr Seddon Bennington, will attend the press preview and opening of the exhibition in Singapore.
'The recent success at the Oscars reiterates the phenomenal talent and ground breaking creativity of Peter Jackson and his team' said Dr Bennington. 'Te Papa is very proud to showcase these talents in this exciting exhibition which thousands of people all over the world will get to enjoy'.
The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy - The Exhibition is interactive and immersive. Featuring film footage, props, costumes and artefacts from the movies, the exhibition gives visitors a unique opportunity to explore the fantastic world created for the film trilogy and the groundbreaking technology behind the movies.
