Lomu-Kingsley Jones Relationship Draws To A Close
Jonah Lomu advises that the relationship between Lomu and Phil Kingsley-Jones has come to an end as of 13th February.
The relationship, established over nine years ago, has been an important factor in his success. The decision to end the relationship was mutual.
“Phil and I go back along way”, says Lomu, of his relationship with Kingsley-Jones.
“With my playing days on hold at the moment I have had a chance to get a lot more involved in my own business affairs.
“I used to spend up to 11 months a year either playing locally or off–shore and required intensive management support. At the moment I am spending a lot of time at home and am enjoying the closer involvement in my business.
“Right now I’m not looking to take on another manager”, says Lomu.
Recently, global sportswear giant adidas announced the signing of a new two-year contract with Jonah Lomu, which will see him travelling the world as an ambassador for the company. Lomu confirms he is also in discussions with the IRB on other rugby-related opportunities.
While rugby remains his number one passion, he is also exploring other business opportunities outside of the game.
“Right now I am facing a lot of change in my life. My primary focus is my health and the battle I face with kidney disease.
“While it is sad to be ending a lasting relationship with Phil, I feel very positive and excited about the future.”
