Allyson Gofton steps into the breach

Lake Taupo Arts Festival Cooking Demonstration: Sunday 15 February, 11am, Pacific Crystal Palace, Taupo

New Zealand's cooking fraternity demonstrated its mutual generosity and strength today, as "Food in a Minute" presenter and cookery expert Allyson Gofton generously agreed to step in at short notice for Annabel Langbein, who was booked to present a cookery demonstration at Lake Taupo Arts Festival on Sunday 15 February.

Sadly Annabel's mother is seriously ill and not expected to recover. Festival Director Philip Tremewan said that the organisers sympathised with Annabel and understood that her priority at the moment was to be with her family.

Event sponsor Chris Johnston of Taupo's Replete Cafe called on his extensive list of contacts in the cookery world, and Allyson Gofton generously agreed to step into the breach at short notice for her friend and colleague Annabel Langbein.

Allyson did a very entertaining demonstration of barbeque recipes for the 2002 Taupo Arts Festival, and will present a programme focussing on Italian recipes and flavours.
