Flamenco Mosaic Flamenco At The Fringe
“Fiery flamenco show Flamenco Mosaic set to heat up Wellington Fringe Festival”
Wellingtonians will soon have another opportunity to experience hot and fiery flamenco with Flamenco Mosaic, Desde Sevilla Flamenco Dance Company’s offering to the Fringe Festival this February.
The show is a heady kaleidoscope of retrospective pieces and new works that will delight lovers of flamenco, music, percussion and dance alike. Audiences will be taken through a range of flamenco dance and guitar – from raw, gypsy energy to powerful and sophisticated dance theatre. Choreographies from sell-out shows ‘The Fire of Spain’ and ‘The House of Bernarda Alba’ will be seen again as well as sizzling new material straight from Spain.
Flamenco Mosaic is Desde Sevilla’s first show after the recent return from Spain of dancer Jessica Garland and guitarist Mark Edwards. Based in Sevilla for the second time, Jessica studied under some of Spain’s top dancers, including flamenco diva, Manuela Carrasco. Mark brings new inspiration from Jerez, where he learnt from leading flamenco guitar exponents.
Bringing a new edge to Desde Sevilla’s expertise is international dancer and teacher, Francine Sweet, who has provided coaching to company members during her short stay in New Zealand.
Flamenco Mosaic celebrates traditional and modern flamenco and will set the Fringe Festival pumping with its rich and vibrant tapestry of rhythm and movement.
