EXHIBITIONS
Another
Vietnam
5 March – 6 June
There are at least two
sides to every story, even in the midst of war.
Another Vietnam, an exhibition organised in association with National Geographic Society and supplemented by a locally curated exhibition, Vietnam - A Kiwi Snapshot, takes viewers behind the battle lines of the 20th century's most controversial conflict.
Seen through the lenses of
previously unknown North Vietnamese photographers as well as
those of young New Zealanders, both photographic exhibitions
capture two perspectives; the more familiar western one, and
that of the Vietcong and the war they still call the
'American War'.
A mixture of documentary photography and
propaganda, Another Vietnam puts a human face to a faceless
enemy, acknowledging the impact of this war on both young
New Zealanders and the people they were fighting.
