Comic Relief For Canterbury Firefighters
11th Annual New Zealand Community Trust World Buskers Festival
Special Performance for Firefighters and their Families
Monday, 26 January, 2004
The New Zealand Community Trust World Buskers Festival announced today that two acts from this year’s international
line-up will appear in a special performance exclusively for Canterbury firefighters and their families on Monday, 26
January, 2004.
“We’re delighted the City and the Festival have thought of our team and their families. I am sure many people will avail
themselves of this opportunity,” says Transalpine Fire Region Commander, Brian Joyce.
The performance will be hosted by the Mayor, Garry Moore, and held at the Kilmore Street Fire Station. The featured acts
will be Hilby, The – infectious and clever – Skinny German Juggle Boy and the Yo Yo Guy – one of the world’s most
dexterous and daring yo-yoist.
“Its great to be able to give something back to the local firefighters who have more than earned a little comic relief
from their battle with the dry summer we’ve all been enjoying,” says Festival Director, Jodi Wright
The Festival was founded in 1994 by Festival City Trust – a charitable trust established to foster the arts by producing
high profile and accessible arts-based events.
The World Buskers Festival is core funded by the Christchurch City Council. The New Zealand Community Trust is the
