A Moa – Live at Auckland Zoo!
There’s a Moa arriving at Auckland Zoo this coming Thursday (22 January), and this one’s very much alive.
She’s award winning vocalist and songwriter Anika Moa – the headline act for the zoo’s fourth ASB Bank ZooMusic twilight concert (5.30pm – 9pm).
Support act for Anika is another awesome female performer, Amber Claire.
“Two very talented women performing in the heart of Auckland Zoo on a sultry summer evening – what better way to enjoy great kiwi music while having dinner and drinks with your friends and family,” says Jackie Sanders, Auckland Zoo Events Co-ordinator.
Anika Moa, winner of the top Female Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year in the 2002 NZ Music Awards, is the first New Zealand artist to be signed to a major US label (Atlantic Records) without having released an album. Since then she has released her first album, Thinking Room.
Amber Claire has recorded an album
for Sony New Zealand (due to be released later this year)
and her first single ‘Love Remains’ is receiving airplay
on commercial radio. Her voice has featured on the
official America’s Cup album and numerous
commercials.
Normal zoo admission prices apply for this, and all upcoming ASB Bank ZooMusic concerts ($13 adults, $10 students, and $7 for children 4 years and over). Friends of the Zoo members receive a 20 per cent discount on entry after 4.15pm.
Darwin’s café, which is licensed, fully caters for both adults and children, and will be open, along with the zoo’s Wild Zone Gift Shop. The zoo will close at 9pm.
