Reigns Supreme Over The New Zealand Box Office
National cinematic history has been rewritten again, with Peter Jackson’s THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING conquering the New Zealand Box Office to claim the highest ever Opening Weekend Record.
The final instalment in the celebrated New Line trilogy screened to packed cinemas from Thursday through to Sunday, grossing NZD $2,609,992.
The lofty result for THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING has left previous Opening Weekend Records in its wake;

During the four-day box office weekend, the film also broke single day records for Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING released throughout New Zealand on Thursday 18 December in 75 cinema locations and on 114 screens.
