Highly regarded New Zealand DJ and Producer Soane announces the release of his eagerly awaited debut artist album, TonganChic, to be released by local record company In Music, February 2004.

Soane’s come a long way since his days as a doorman and then DJ at Club Roma and the Box back in the day. Soane’s popularity as a DJ grew rapidly with the Auckland crowd and he eventually decided that standing outside all night telling people that their shoes weren’t right wasn’t what he wanted to be doing, so he became a full time working DJ. As time passed, both his record collection and his ability to work the crowd developed.

In 1999 Soane embarked on his first month long tour of the UK and France, playing guest spots with his soul mates, Miles Hollway (Paperecordings), Ben Davis and current Auckland resident Dick Johnson (Shaboom & Paper). So much fun was had, he returned to the UK again in 2001 for another tour and collaborations with Shaboom and Paper’s Reset were arranged after the success of ‘99’s Toughman (renamed Troffman) collaboration 12” with Shaboom, named after a mythical toilet man from New Zealand.

Since then Soane has released several 12” singles for both Shaboom and Paperecordings and has also compiled and mixed three local mix CDs as well as finding the time to grace the decks at all of New Zealand’s top clubs and club nights.

In 2002 Soane teamed up with local engineer Luke Toomes and set about recording his debut album, which has like all good things taken a bit longer than expected.

TonganChic the resulting album named after Soane’s BFM show is to be unleashed on the New Zealand public February 2004 the first single All I Need will coincide with the album release and will be complimented by a video kindly funded by NZ On Air.

With the release of TonganChic Soane will embark on a New Zealand wide tour to support the album and has plans to tour both Australia and the UK during the year to further promote his album and DJ’ing skills.
