Hawkes Bay Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey 2003
The Hawkes Bay 2003 Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Surveys conducted by Research International was released today at 2pm.
Department of Statistics Census Data indicates that there are approximately 102,500 people aged over 10 years in the Hawkes Bay survey area used for the Radio Audience Measurement Survey. Of these 102,500people, 87% of them listen to a commercial radio station at some time during the week.
The survey, conducted over 6 weeks and sampling 1147 people aged 10 years and over has found that 98.3 The Edge continues to have the most listeners each week, with 28,900 different people tuning in each week. Classic Hits 89.5FM retains second place with 20,800 different listeners each week, followed by The Rock 95.1FM maintaining third place with 15,700 listeners. Newstalk ZB moves holds onto fourth place with 14,900 listeners and ZM 95.6 moves up to fifth place with 14,800 different listeners each week.
The commercial radio station with the highest market share in the Hawkes Bay area continues to be 98.3 The Edge with a 17.1% share of the market. The Rock 95.1 moves up to second place with an 11.5% share of commercial radio listening in the Hawkes Bay, followed by Newstalk ZB moving to third place with an 11.4% share. Classic Hits 89.5FM moves to fourth place with a 10.6% share and Radio Pacific moves up to fifth in the market with a 7.5% share of commercial radio listening in the Hawkes Bay.
Breakfast results show 98.3 The Edge gaining highest share, with a 16.8% share of the commercial radio breakfast market. Newstalk ZB moves to second placing at breakfast with a 15.8% share, followed by Classic Hits retaining third place with a 13.4% share. The Rock 95.1FM moves up to fourth placing this round with an 10.5% share of the breakfast market. Hot 93 moves to fifth placing at breakfast with an 8.4% share of the commercial radio breakfast market.
The margin of error on these results is +/- 2.9%
