Tauranga Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey 2003
The Tauranga 2003 Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Surveys conducted by Research International was released today at noon.
Department of Statistics Census Data indicates that there are approximately 120,200 people aged over 10 years in the Tauranga survey area used for the Radio Audience Measurement Survey. Of these 120,200 people, 85.5% of them listen to a commercial radio station at some time during the week.
The survey, conducted over 6 weeks and sampling 1,133 people aged 10 years and over has found that Classic Hits 95BOPFM continues to have the most listeners each week, with 31,300 different people tuning in. 99.8 The Edge retains second place with 24,200 different listeners each week, followed by Newstalk ZB moving up to third place with 18,500 listeners. The Rock 94.4FM and 93.4 Coastline FM share fourth equal placing with 16,500 listeners and ZM 89.8 moves to fifth place with 15,500 different listeners each week.
The commercial radio station with the highest market share in the Tauranga area continues to be 95BOPFM with a 17.9% share of the market. Newstalk ZB moves up to second place with an 11.4% share of commercial radio listening in Tauranga, followed by the Rock 94.2FM retaining third place with a 10.5% share. 99.8 The Edge moves to fourth place with a 10.4% share and Radio Hauraki moves up to fifth in the market with a 7.4% share of commercial radio listening in Tauranga.
Breakfast results show Classic Hits 95BOPFM gaining highest share, with a 22.1% share of the commercial radio breakfast market. Newstalk ZB retains second place at breakfast with a 13.7% share, followed by The Rock 94.2FM holding onto third place with a 10.0% share. 99.8 The Edge maintains fourth place this round with a 9.7% share of the breakfast market. Radio Pacific retains fifth placing at breakfast with a 7.9% share of the commercial radio breakfast market.
The margin of error on these results is +/- 2.9%
