Bright new stars in the Christmas sky!

Bright new stars in the Christmas sky!

The stars will be shining extra brightly in the Auckland Domain on Saturday December 13 when Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park celebrates its 10th anniversary with a Christmas cracker of a show packed full of music, dancing, fun and fabulous fireworks.

The nation’s most popular outdoor concert has helped launch some of the biggest names in entertainment and in 2003 organisers promise a magical mix of ever-popular Kiwi entertainers as well as some of New Zealand’s hottest new stars discovered through a nationwide talent search held earlier this year.

Hosted by Jeremy Corbett and Petra Bagust, the show offers something for everyone - from traditional gospel and sing-along Christmas carols to contemporary hip-hop.

Some of the new discoveries include 9-year-old soloist Mereku Lutui, who will open the show singing ‘Noel’, and the all-singing, all-dancing Oti Brothers – who are being dubbed New Zealand’s very own “Jackson Five”.

Other big names in the glittering line-up include Suzy Cato, Ray Woolf, Theo, Lapi Mariner, Ainslie Allen, Jennifer Ward-Lealand, Keri Harper, Frankie Stevens, Taisha and Jackie Clarke.

Another highlight will be a performance by Nesian Mystik, recently returned from the UK and winners of the prestigious Silver Scroll award.

Special guest stars will include Homer and Marge Simpson of The Simpson’s’ fame and the multi platinum award winning band Zed who will be performing Christmas songs plus a track from their new album.

Proceeds from Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park 2003 will benefit Youthline and funds raised will help extend the youth Help Line service - a free phone service providing the first point of contact for thousands of young people seeking help - to a 24-hour 7-days a week service.

Youthline Director Stephen Bell says the funds will also support its youth development and leadership programmes.

“Youthline is not just working when young people have problems, but also working to build their potential and equip them as leaders in our community. Young New Zealanders should feel good about themselves and be optimistic about their future. Coca-Cola’s partnership with Youthline is one of the ways we can help them to do this. ”
