Rotorua Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey 2003
The Rotorua 2003 Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Surveys conducted by Research International was released today at 2pm.
Department of Statistics Census Data indicates that there are approximately 43,700 people aged over 10 years in the Rotorua survey area used for the Radio Audience Measurement Survey. Of these 43,700 people, 83.1% of them listen to a commercial radio station at some time during the week.
The survey, conducted over 6 weeks and sampling 829 people aged 10 years and over has found that 99.9 The Edge continues to have the most listeners each week, with 11,200 different people tuning in each week. Classic Hits 97.5FM retains second place with 10,700 different listeners each week, followed by Lakes 96FM who move up to third place with 8,000 listeners. Mai FM96.7 moves to fourth place this round with 7,200 listeners, and The Rock 92.7FM retains fifth place with 6,400 different listeners each week.
The commercial radio station with the highest market share in the Rotorua area is now Classic Hits 97.5FM with a 16.5% share of the market. 99.9 The Edge retains second place with a 13.8% share of commercial radio listening in Rotorua, followed by Lakes 96FM moving up to third place with a 10.0% share. Mai FM96.7 moves to fourth place with a 9.1% share and The Rock 92.7FM moves up to fifth in the market with an 8.6% share of commercial radio listening in Rotorua.
Breakfast results show Classic Hits 97.5FM gaining highest share, moving up to a 21.3% share of the commercial radio breakfast market, followed by 99.9 The Edge who move to second place at breakfast with a 12.7% share. Lakes 96FM moves to third place with a 12.1% share, followed by Mai FM96.7 moving up to fourth place this round with a 7.9% share of the breakfast market. Fifth equal placing at breakfast with a 7.5% share of the commercial radio breakfast market are The Rock 92.7FM and Radio Pacific.
The margin of error on these results is +/- 3.4%
