Dunedin Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey T2/2003
The second round of the Dunedin 2003 Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Surveys conducted by Research International was released today at noon.
Department of Statistics Census 2001 data indicates that there are approximately 94,500 people aged over 10 years in the Dunedin survey area used for the Radio Audience Measurement Survey. Of these 94,500 people, 86.7% of them listen to a commercial radio station at some time during the week.
The survey, conducted over 6 weeks and sampling 1,136 people aged 10 years and over has found that 91.8 The Edge continues to have the most listeners each week, with 21,600 different people tuning in each week. Classic Hits 89.4FM moves up to second placing with 18,900 different listeners each week, followed by The Rock 93.4FM which moves to third place with 16,900 listeners. 4XO 97.4FM moves up to fourth place with 15,400 listeners and Radio Dunedin retains fifth place with 13,300 different listeners each week.
The commercial radio station with the highest market share in Dunedin continues to be Radio Dunedin with a 15.3% share of the market. The second placed station is now Classic Hits 89.4FM with an 11.8% share of commercial radio listening in Dunedin, followed by The Rock 93.4FM which retains third placing with an 11.2% share. Newstalk ZB retains fourth position with a 10.8% share and 91.8 The Edge moves to fifth in the market with a 10.6% share of commercial radio listening in Dunedin.
Breakfast results show Radio Dunedin continuing to hold the highest share with 16.4% of the commercial radio breakfast market. Newstalk ZB holds onto second place at breakfast with a 14.2% share. Classic Hits 89.4FM moves up to third placing this round with a 13.5% share of the breakfast market. 4XO 97.4FM moves up to fourth placing at breakfast with an 11.3% share of the commercial radio breakfast market, followed by 91.8 The Edge with a 10.5% share.
The margin of error on these results is +/- 2.9%
