DVD Revival Of Little Orphan Annie Classic
A smash hit Broadway musical in 1977 before being released in cinemas around the world five years later, ANNIE is available for the first time on DVD this Christmas.
To date one of the biggest selling Columbia TriStar VHS titles around the world, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment National Sales and Marketing Manager Keith Simnor says ANNIE is one of the best loved musicals of all time.
"ANNIE is a classic everyone loves and the release on DVD now lets viewers enjoy the complete theatrical version not seen for over two decades.
"The DVD includes the full widescreen presentation particular to the theatrical version that VHS format is unable to capture, so viewers can see things like the orphans doing back handsprings on the beds in 'Hard-Knock Life' that don't feature on the video," he says.
Telling the story of a plucky, red-haired girl who dreams of a life outside her dingy orphanage, the motion picture magic of ANNIE from acclaimed producer Ray Stark was directed by John Huston and stars Albert Finney and Carol Burnett alongside a sprightly Aileen Quinn as the young orphan Annie.
When asked what is so special about children's classics like ANNIE and OLIVER, Simnor says it's the popularity of the universal themes in the tales told that sees classics enjoyed by families across decades and geographic boundaries.
"Titles like ANNIE transcend generations because they essentially tap into values like courage and friendship that are respected irrespective of age or time," he says.
Including an isolated music and song track of the unforgettable 'It's a Hard Knock Life' and 'Tomorrow,' the ANNIE DVD special features also contain a vintage advertising gallery and the original movie trailer.
ANNIE on DVD is available from all good DVD retailers from November 13. ANNIE is also available on VHS.
