The Knackered Chef is back in the kitchen
The irrepressible Jim Hopkins hosts a second series of The Knackered Chef to screen on Triangle Television over summer.
The popular cooking and chat show showcases some of the country's top chefs and features informal interviews with a wide
variety of high-profile guests.
The Knackered Chef aired last year on Triangle Television and other regional channels, and its resounding success led to
the new series and a longer format for each programme.
The Knackered Chef will screen on Triangle Television on Mondays at 9:30-10:30pm from December 6 to January 26 and again
in selected spots.
Each week the show will feature Hopkins, who's seated at a dining table, chatting with his guest(s) while a top New
Zealand chef prepares and serves their meal in a studio kitchen.
Though the chat can include serious subjects, Hopkins's quick wit and nonsensical take on life ensure the conversation
is entertaining, humorous and, of course, informative. Add to the mix a cast of passionate and dynamic chefs and the
result is far from any ordinary cooking show.
Guests in the forthcoming series include aeronautical scientist Sir William Pickering, adventurer and writer Michael
Palin, multi-sport endurance athlete Steve Gurney, fashion stylist and publisher Paula Ryan, actor Grant Tilly,
entertainers The Topp Twins, Mike King, Te Radar and Tina Cross, former All Blacks coach Alex "Grizz" Wylie, as well as
politicians Dr Don Brash, Jim Anderton and John Tamihere.
The appeal of the programme lies in its good-natured and lively chat, the hallmark of any successful dinner party - or
television chat show.
A third series of The Knackered Chef is now in production.
Triangle Television is Auckland's only regional, non-commercial television station and has operated as a public
broadcaster to Greater Auckland since August 1 1998. The channel screens a mix of regional-access television with
international news and information programmes. It is non-profit making and operates with no funding from NZ on Air.
Triangle broadcasts 24 hours daily from UHF channel 41.
