TVNZ Announces New Look What Now
TVNZ announced today exciting new developments to the country's favourite Sunday morning children's show What Now.
To celebrate its 23rd year on screen, What Now will have a brand new format with the programme's production teams travelling and broadcasting from around the country.
Stephen Smith, TVNZ Head of Content said TVNZ is delighted What Now will be returning in 2004 with many new enhancements to the show making it even more valued appointment viewing on Sunday mornings for the young and the young-at-heart.
"With What Now coming to a 'neighbourhood near you', there will be more audience involvement from around the country," he said.
NZ On Air have allocated $2.5 million to the reformatted programme and are also excited.
Chief Executive, Jo Tyndall said, "This fits in very well with our updated children's programming strategy. We're looking forward to watching it develop on screen and out in the community."
The new look What Now will be produced by Janine Morell and Jason Gunn from Whitebait Productions. They will base the management of the show from Christchurch and Auckland.
"What Now is a New Zealand icon and we're rapt to be given the opportunity to bring our experience in children's programme-making, creativity and energy to What Now and be able to connect and share with children," said Janine Morell.
Viewers can look forward to What Now launching next year on TV2 .
