In a
publicity coup, a stunning red Barbara Lee outfit worn by
celebrity model Nicky Watson today graced the cover page of
the New Zealand Herald. At the same time, Barbara Lee is
also the subject of a three-page spread in this week’s New
Idea magazine.
Always one for putting on a true ‘show’, Barbara brought a male model up from Christchurch to Auckland especially for her catwalk parade. He posed as a photographer and busily snapped all the female models as each came out on stage.
Flirting was the order of the day – Barbara’s outfits exuded sex appeal, from naughty schoolgirls to ultra-sheer evening wear. The inclusion of celebrity model, Nicky Watson, certainly added to the ‘glamour’ but was also a personal choice based on the fact that Nicky used to model for Barbara when she was still a schoolgirl in Christchurch.
“What we’ve already achieved at L’Oreal New Zealand Fashion Week has already surpassed my wildest expectations,” says an exhausted Barbara Lee.
“Straight after our show we were approached by several Australian retailers who have booked meetings with us and our diary has lots of bookings for the coming week.”
“People have been very enthusiastic – they’ve commented that the collection was ‘fresh’ and that the clothes were sexy.”
Barbara Lee was one of three Canterbury labels showing at L’Oreal New Zealand Fashion Week in the Group 1 Show which was held in the Auckland Town Hall on Monday afternoon. Together with Sakaguchi and tango, Barbara Lee is sponsored by ClothesLink Canterbury, the apparel cluster of the Canterbury Development Corporation.
