The NBR Corporate Cup
The NBR Corporate Cup
An exciting joint venture between Sail NZ, The Loaded Hog and The National Business Review, will see eight teams fight it out every Wednesday and Thursday evening in a match racing regatta on genuine America’s Cup yachts NZL 40 and NZL 41. Regatta One started on the 8th October and the response from Auckland businesses has been overwhelming, teams are already booking for Regatta Two beginning on the 12th November.
The weekly racing and functions will culminate in the top team taking out the NBR Corporate Cup and $5000 cash. Exciting spot prizes will be awarded at the after match debriefings in The Loaded Hog where competitors will be treated to a BBQ and refreshments. The Loaded Hog bar and restaurant is situated in the heart of the Viaduct Basin and will also be providing refreshments during the racing on their support vessel The MV Hog Wash and afterwards on the mezzanine floor in the viaduct.
SAIL NZ offers a unique opportunity for passengers to become the crew and experience the thrill of sailing, and even racing America’s Cup yachts NZL 40 and NZL 41. Suitable for people of all ages, experiences and abilities, their experienced crew ensure that passengers get the most out of their sailing. Usually their passengers are encouraged to participate; exert energy on the grinders, take the helm, or simply sit back and enjoy the action as they sail down the beautiful Auckland harbour. During the NBR Corporate Cup however, all passengers will take their positions and compete head to head against other Auckland companies to prove their corporate supremacy. Teams consist of a mixture of staff and clients and can vary every week.
