All Black fans flock to NZ Herald Medallion Collection
The school holidays are proving an exciting time for young All Blacks fans and their parents who don’t want to miss out
on a chance to collect their very own All Blacks 2003 Medallion Collection.
The Collection comes with a free, eight-page, glossy Collector’s Album courtesy of Elite Sports Properties and The New
Zealand Herald.
The Herald has distributed 90,000+ albums to participating Mobil outlets and all Foodtown and Woolworths stores
throughout the North Island. The Albums will house medallions featuring all 30 All Blacks selected in this year’s World
Cup Squad.
“The response has been tremendous. All Blacks fans young and old keen to capture a piece of history have been into
outlets to secure their free album. We have also had a number of instances in Mobil outlets where people have been
queuing before the doors even opened for the albums,” says NZ Herald marketing director Rob Billington.
“We increased the number of newspapers going into retailers over the weekend in anticipation of the increased demand –
particularly in the regions.”
Every day for the next five weeks, medallions will go on sale throughout Foodtown, Woolworths and Mobil outlets. To get
a discount on the medallions, consumers are encouraged to cut out the individual player coupons in the Herald so they
can purchase the All Blacks medallions for just $2.50. Without the coupon, the medallions are $5.95 each.
The first medallion of Doug Howlett went on sale on Monday 29 September followed by Malili Muliaina on Tuesday, both are
selling fast.
Altogether there are 30 medallions to collect, participants can enter the promotion at any time and both albums and
medallions will be available to the public while stocks last. The last player to be released will be Corey Flynn on the
1st of November.
