Europe Sailor Sarah Macky Wins Bronze In Pre-Olympic Test Event
The final day of racing at the Athens 2003 Regatta, a test event for the 2004 Olympic Games, took place in an 8-12 knot sea breeze providing some of the best conditions of the Regatta.
The star of the New Zealand team is Sarah Macky who finished third overall Europe Dinghy class after a fifth place in the final race. The points at the top of this fleet were extremely close, Sarah was tied on points but awarded 3rd after a tiebreak procedure was applied by officials. Under pressure after a bad day in the middle of the regatta and sailing under the threat of exclusion if she received another yellow flag penalty for propulsion, Sarah displayed real maturity in her sailing to maintain her position in the fleet and gain a well y
