has been a publicist and photographer for bands around NZ for over two years, so her venture into being a musician herself has come somewhat from left-field, surprising her colleagues and friends with a hidden talent for singing and songwriting. Recently recorded five tracks of her melodic acoustic pop, she is causing a few ripples in the industry, which she hopes to turn into waves.

Chunky stomping riffs, beautiful melodies, raw guttural vocals with double kicks and a hard hitting snare/cymbal attack are a force to be reckoned with. The challenge of fusing the bands many influences has sprung open its willingness to explore new ideas, welcome change and find new ways.

This is the initial taster of music from Gahu, recorded live to air on BFM in May 2003. This is original NZ jazz with an afrobeat, tunes growing from a bed of syncopated driving rhythms. During the next three months Gahu will be in the studio recording their debut album due to be released for the summer.
